Dangers of Tobacco Products

The dangers of tobacco products are many, but some aren’t aware of the damage they are creating for their bodies.

What Tobacco Does to the Body

If you pick up a pack of a tobacco product, you will be educated as to some of the many dangers of using tobacco. While these many not prevent tobacco use in everyone, they should be mentioned to those who are still struggling to quit their favorite tobacco product:

  • Low birth weights
  • Increased risk of lung cancer
  • Emphysema
  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder (COPD)
  • Reduced immune system function
  • Advanced aging signs – wrinkles, lines, etc.
  • Increased risk of colds and infections.
  • Reduced lung capacity.
  • Increase risk of strokes and heart disease.
  • Increased risk of blood clots.

There are many more risks of using tobacco products as well. Since many users of tobacco also have poor lifestyle habits, it seems that those habits might also contribute to the ill health effects.

The Biggest Danger of Tobacco

For those who continue to smoke, the biggest danger is the addictive nature of the drug. Some say that tobacco is harder to quit than heroin or other hard drugs, making it something that can be a lifelong battle for health. Instead of turning to tobacco, tobacco education and prevention programs can help to ‘save’ those who haven’t yet started to smoke, dip, or chew.
